Associate Degrees

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Beginning your college career in an associate degree program is an excellent way to earn your core credits, explore your academic passion, and earn a two-year credential that can be seamlessly applied toward your four-year degree at Carson-Newman. Associate degrees typically require 60 hours. Each of our associate degree programs includes the core curriculum courses in communication, biblical traditions, mathematics, science, and personal and social awareness that every student at Carson-Newman is required to take. The associate programs allow you to begin taking classes in the area you plan to major in — but are also designed for maximum flexibility if your interest changes along the way.

Associate degree students have full access to the faculty advisors in their future major and the added bonus of earning an extra academic credential along the way.

Qualifying students have the opportunity to utilize the Tennessee Promise Scholarship or the Tennessee Re-Connect Grant to help them complete their program.

HANDS-ON LEARNING

A lecture hall is vastly different from professional work, and that’s why Carson-Newman’s decision to combine traditional instruction with practical applications with as much hands-on learning as possible maximizes a student’s critical thinking skills and effectively prepares them for life outside the classroom.
